Have you ever heard of irrevocable gifts? Talking about irrevocable, your guess is true that I'm not talking about the gifts that we give as human beings. We, human beings, tend to praise ourselves when we give gifts. We also expect gifts in returnšOur gifts are perishable. They have a lifespan. They are physical gifts.
The gifts that I want to put emphasis on are the gifts of God through the Holy Spirit. These are spiritual gifts. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are unique skills and abilities given by the Holy Spirit to faithful followers of Christ to serve God for the common benefit of His people, the church. 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 lists wisdom, knowledge, healing, discernment, prophecy, faith, miracles, speaking in tongues and interpreting them. These gifts are divine power to help us do what He has called us to do. We receive gifts according to the grace given to us. The Holy Spirit gives us as He wills.
When the Holy Spirit gives you these gifts, they are irrevocable. Romans 11:29, "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." It may surprise you that all of us believers have these gifts. The holy word says that each person is given a gift to show that the Holy Spirit abides in them, and the gift is for the benefit of all. 1 Corinthians 12:7 says "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal." So it is our responsibility to ensure that we don't let pride rule us and override on the gifts. At the same time, we should ensure that we don't get into self denial in the guise of humility. We have been given the gifts to utilize them with humility, diligence, cheer and simplicity. Credit or profit isn't for our take, glory is His. With the gifts, we should seek for the good of all, giving glory to God.
